Miles is the most mellow baby, he doesn’t really ever cry and if he does it is for like 5 seconds

He sits up, rolls from back to stomach and stomach to back, and in the last couple of days is trying to get on his knees.

He watches the other kiddos intently and will be following them around shortly I believe.

He takes 2 naps during the day, anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours long.

At night he is still getting up once to eat, but i’m trying to get him to stop with that, b/c he eats so much during the day, I know he shouldn’t be hungry at that point. We started solids at 4 months. He is definitely the pickiest eater of my kids so far. He still eats most things, but gags on new flavors and looks at you like, why did you put that in my mouth?

His favorites are carrots and pears. He eats the equivalent of about 3 containers of food a day and about a cup of oatmeal throughout the day also. I have started supplementing with formula and still nurse 2-3 times a day.

He is a complete joy and very vocal. He likes to growl and squeal and is pretty proud of himself when he does.

Here are some of the things we did in December (minus Christmas, which yes a month later is still to come)

Our Mortgage guy had Santa come to his office so we decided to go and see him there. Audrey thought about what she was going to ask for all day and was ready. She walked right up and I don’t know if she even let him ask what she wanted, she just said Littlest Pet Shops, and was quite relieved to hear that she was on the good list.

Calvin on the other hand was not quite as excited . . .

We also got to go on the North Pole Express, aka the Polar Express, out of Heber Valley. What was even more fun was that my parents and our friends Mike and Risa were in town and able to join us.

This time Santa wasn’t nearly as traumatic, but, Calvin still doesn’t look very happy. (notice the bracelet out of bells the elf is wearing? she heard Audrey saying how pretty it was and took it off and handed it to her, she was pretty darn excited)

The big man even took some time out for Mr. SmilesAudrey reaffirmed her wish for Littlest Pet Shops.

All in all it was a fun experience, it could have been really corny, but it wasn’t and Calvin got a kick out of being able to ride on a choo choo.

Thanksgiving

I know it’s a bit late, but here are some pics of our trip to AZ for Thanksgiving

We were able to see my parents new house and when this is their backyard, it’s easy to see whey they moved

Steven and my dad took out the Jacuzzi that was in the back and filled it up with dirt it was where Calvin spent 95% of his time (basically if he wasn’t sleeping or eating)

Crazy, but 2 more grandkids have been added since then for 16 total

I’ve kept you waiting long enough right?

The second day in San Diego we went to the zoo. Which in October is free for kids, sounds nice right? Wrong. Every school apparently goes during the month of October, and all of the ones that were there on that day seemed to only speak spanish. I don’t know what it is, maybe just because it’s not a language we hear a lot in Utah, but it just seemed so LOUD.

Regardless we had a good time, and luckily Calvin was feeling a little better.

San Diego Part 1

A couple of weeks ago we were fortunate enough to go to San Diego and meet up with my parents. The first day we went and saw my grandparents and went to the beach.

It was cold, but Steven still got in.

And Audrey is usually game to do anything Dad is doing. Her lips turned blue They warmed up in the jacuzzi afterwards

The next day we went to Sea World. I tell you what, October was the time to go, there was NO ONE there.

Poor Calvin got sick, and this is basically how he felt this whole day, he was a trooper though and didn’t cry or wine, just looked miserable.

Feeding the sea lions, the birds were quite daring and actually stole a fish right out of my dad’s hand Playing on the huge jungle gym

Doesn’t Calvin look like he’s having fun! Waiting for the dolphin show to start, Audrey decided she is going to be in the show one day.

Halloween 2011

For dinner we had eyeball soup and bat bread. Audrey started crying when we told her we were having eyeballs for dinner.

Dad went and got some smoky blood for a drink, again Audrey was disturbed.

The Pumpkin Princess, she was so excited to wear makeup and that mom did her hair like Belle.

The Skeleton, we had to force him into his costume, once he started getting candy, he was a ok.

2 months already

It seems like miles has been a part of our family for so long already it is hard to believe that it has really only been a short amount of time.

He is an extremely mellow baby, usually just happy to hang out with you.

I love his tiny little neck in this one, it just makes me want to kiss it all day long.

At two months he is:

sleeping from 8:30pm – 3:30 am, eats then sleeps until around 7

has stopped eating every two hours (much to moms enjoyment) and switched to every 4 hours

smiles back at you

coos all the time

hardly ever cries

can roll on to his side in either direction

I don’t know who these babies are that are bigger than him, but they must be huge! All the percents put him at average for everything, but he seems so big already. He is even in 3-6 month sleepers already, just for the length, they just kind of bag around him.

To celebrate Audrey’s 5th birthday we had a Pinkalicious Party.

loving, obedient, my sweetheart, loves playing with friends, is her brothers best friend, loves art projects and tells her dad that one day he can be as good an artist as she is, can read at a 1st grade level and is quite sad that she didn’t get to go to kindergarten this year. We love you big girl.

The Happenings

I have started potty training Calvin. I know he is young for it, but he doesn’t like being in wet diapers and wakes up dry a couple of mornings a week. Some days he likes it, other days not so much, we’ll see how it goes.Calvin also does a lot of mowing, his favorite gift for his birthday. It is very focused work and he takes it quite seriously, even mowing in our bedroom at 7 am, just to keep up his skills.

he is just so tired from his hard schedule of eating every 2-3 hours, that he does a lot of this. Luckily all of that eating is paying off, we went in for our 6 week appt. today and he has gained over 3 lbs already.

Calvin turns 2!

I can’t believe that Calvin is 2 already! He is a total goofball who loves to make you smile and help you with what ever you are doing. He especially loves to play with his big sister, help dad fix things and help mom in the kitchen. He is such a boy and into any type of vehicle or tool he can find.

I think his shirt says it all. This was right after he had a bath and then decided he wanted to eat. Sometimes I don’t know why I even bother cleaning him!

I was really worried about how Calvin would do with Miles, because he is such a mamas boy, and he has totally surprised me. He is really sweet and affectionate giving him kisses and hugs and when Miles does tummy time he lays on the floor next to him and gives him cars to play with.

The funniest thing is when i’m nursing and Calvin sits next to me and watches ( a little disturbing) and then says “num nums”

Just to make you aware, that is not really a turtle…………it’s Audrey!! A turtles home from the inside. Nice ambient lighting. however, needs work on the furnishings…and get rid of those peeping toms.Oh! Audrey just posing next to a Coelophysis,…A Dinosaur, that's all! UMMMmmmmm……We still love him!?!?!? I bet later on she gets named the black widow in High School. Every proud fathers dream.

Looks to me like the horse needs to lay off the energy drinks. What a little cutie!

We lost Calvin after this. The good news was that the Dinosaur didn't make it since Calvin's head was so big. I should somehow Photoshop that. So this is our daughter, trying to capture a new friend, with her nature tattoo that gives her special powers!apparently she had little doubt on containing the beast.

Colorado

We went to Colorado Springs for Aunt Kim’s wedding and were able to go to Garden of the Gods.

I was nervous about going because everyone kept calling it a nice little hike, and I am obviously caring a little extra weight right now. The group that we went with are not necessarily known for their “little hikes” luckily it was more of a walk than anything and absolutely beautiful.

Kim asked Audrey to be a flower girl and she was beyond excited, especially when she got a new basket and necklace.

Audrey wanted to try this so much. I told her as long as she does a back flip. This was one of her many.On the way up the mountainAudrey Being Audrey. Calvin…would move rocks from one side of the path to the other…He makes his Dad and Mom proud. This Frightens my wife. What will she be doing in the future for thrills?So the object is to take the ski lift up the mountain and then to ride down a long slide as fast as you can. The best part is, you get to take your kids. Raise the life insurance policy honey, i found a get rich quick scheme! It may not show on their faces, but they like it. Again don’t look at their faces, in fact look at mine to see how fun it was.

A couple of weeks ago, Audrey came up to me and said that her tooth was loose. I didn’t believe her, she’s only 4 1/2, so I checked her tooth. Sure enough, it was loose. Then I looked online to see the average age that children start loosing their teeth to make sure she is not a freak with loose gums. But, she is just on the young side of normal, so I guess we are ok. And nevermind the scraggily hair and food on her face.

And no, she has not lost a top tooth also, that is just the gap in her teeth on the top. Don’t worry, we are already saving for orthodontia!

I will Never . . .

Before I was a mom a made a lot of improbable statements of things I would never do.

I will never smell my child’s bottom to see if they are poopy.

I will never wipe my child’s face off with my own spit.

I will never let my child run around the restaurant while we eat.

I will never drop the binkie in a store and just put it back in the babies mouth without wiping it off.

I will never let my kid drink out of my drink and then drink out of it myself, backwash and all.

I will never take my kid out at naptime and lay them down in the cart so they can sleep. I mean what could be SO important that you can’t just be home"?

I don’t have any photographic evidence that I have done any of the other “I will never’s” , but I can assure you that they have all happened also.

The new digs

So for those of you that don’t know, we got a new house. It has 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bath. So much space I don’t have any idea what we will do with it, but know that we will fill it up sooner rather than later!

This is the family room, to the right you can see the front door and foyer. The Kitchen

The basement, it has a bathroom and one bedroom, just no flooring as of yet. The backyard. It already has a pit for a trampoline and TONS of room for the kids to run around and the garden that we want.

Don’t worry about the appearance that the walls or fence might appear bowed, that is just from Steven piecing together different pictures in photoshop.

the plan is to move this coming weekend, and for anyone that is in the provo area, we could use some help as I am 5 months pregnant and Steven through out his back (perfect time to move, right?)

18 Months

So a couple of weeks ago, Calvin turned 18 Months, and I thought I would finally post a couple of pictures! His exact Stats are packed somewhere, so from what I remember he is in the 96% for height, his head is in the 76% and his weight is 36%, definitely a big boy.

His likes: Anything sweet, anything with buttons, anything sister is doing, water(he is a fish), Mom, Dad, and torturing the dog.

His dislikes: anyone leaving the house without him, being told no, green vegetables.

He doesn’t say too much as far as words go, he jibbers like crazy though and knows exactly what he wants. Some of the things he says are:

Mom, daddy, audrey, dog, uh-oh, whoa, ashes(as in ring around the rosy), done, p-u, two, three, e-i-e-i-o, uh uh, uh huh.

licking the brownie beater, we can’t keep sweets in the house at all because he figures out where they are and begs for them. There are days he eats 3 bananas.

So we have some exciting news that we want to share with everyone!

As some of you have guessed we have been expecting this bundle of joy for quite some time.

Audrey and Calvin have been trying to adjust to the new love that has come into our home, and i think they are taking it quite well. So long as Dad is not giving his total attention to the new arrival

This Blue eyed beauty came into our home four days ago.

She is 36 lbs 0 oz.

Audrey’s 4th Birthday

I am aware that Audrey’s birthday was almost a month ago. We did have a party, and a rather fun one at that, but given crazy schedules and yet again internet issues, I am now able to show you the greatness of turning 4.

We had a pink dinosaur party this year, where we . . . .

I can’t believe it, Calvin is already one year old! He is a happy little boy, who is very curious about what is going on around him. He gets into the cupboards, the toilet and the dog food on a daily basis. He started walking last night so i’m sure that the level of mischievousness is about to triple. He loves his mommy and tolerates is dad. His big sister can get him to laugh and smile like no one else can. We are extremely blessed to have him in our lives. Here are a couple of photos over the past year. His birthday ones will come later.

One of Audreys’ friends had a superhero b-day party a couple of weekends ago. She chose to be one of the Incredibles, it was our first homemade costume, and it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

The party was held at GymCats in Lehi and was an absolute blast. This was a pit that was filled with sponge type things. We all enjoyed that as you can see.

Calvin also had fun crawling/climbing on everything. I think it was because everything was soft, so it didn’t hurt his knees.

He climbed right up into the jumping castle and wasn’t even afraid when the big kids got in and started jumping!

The Joys of Camping!?!

We were fortunate to have Graham, Cherice and there kids come up to Utah to have a little vacation. We met in Moab to spend a couple days there. Moab was great, Camping is Fun, However…

Having lived most my life in Arizona i have visited the Scottsdale area where a lot of galleries portray many western scenes. It was actually in one of these galleries that we had to go as a class for an assignment, more like extra credit. on opening night they usually have food, Which is a bad mix when you put that in the hands of Andrea. The moment she put some in her mouth she did something where she coughed and sneezed at the same time. To me it looked like it hurt. However, i guess it is hard to hold food in your mouth when performing this unique trick. Food sprayed all over a water color western landscape that was composed quite well with the warm hues of a sunset, now mix with crackers and turkey. I couldn't help laughing, but the curator who saw it as well, wasn't. needless to say it wasn’t so funny after we saw the price tag. I Think they gave Andrea a discount though. Anyways, back to the story. So with these painting of a desert sunset with warm hues, one begins to become entranced and carried away into the picture and feel the emotion and moods of the scene. I guess it is here where they say a picture speaks a thousands Words. So with this in mind, let me paint you our picture of our first night camping in the desert under a warm sunset.

First off we need to back track to the car ride down to Moab. Melissa and i had a short conversation that went something like this.

Melissa: When i went to change Calvin early this morning, he was slimy. It wasn’t until later i found out he was covered in poo.

Steven: Wouldn’t that have been your first thought instead of later finding out?

Melissa: It was early!

Steven: Right.

-Flash forward-

The tent is set up. I am thinking to myself, “Steve you genius, way to bring an air mattress, and not just any air mattress the double thick and double cushy kind. No sleeping on the hard ground for us. Brilliant!”

Steven: Melissa, do you want the canopy put on in case it rains.

Melissa: no it’s clear skies and we can sleep under the stars.

Kim, our Aunt decided to sleep with us. She and Audrey are diagramed in the picture below. While Melissa and i take the mattress with Calvin. Here is the Layout. We will call this “BEFORE”.

However, because of a small leak. The brilliant Plan had a flaw. Eventually throughout the night, body positions that a chiropractor would not recommend, were starting to take shape. eventually i found myself staring at my knees, do to the double thickness of this mattress it became more awkward. Melissa still dead to the world of course.

Finally i had to let all the air out. so that i could at least lay down. I opened up the air flow thing, and slowly we deflated to the cold hard rocky surface that became our new bed. (This is a metaphor for this night by the way). And thus the night progressed.

Side note: I don’t like Calvin sleeping by me. In fact i don't like anybody sleeping by me. Which is why i have a king bed. i am on one side while Melissa is on the other. We don't touch. So sleeping next to Calvin is like sleeping next to and angry squid.

Eventually, the little sea urchin fell asleep. As did i. It was shortly after that i rolled over and placed my hand on Calvin.

You know that moment in ratatouille when Ego the food critic finally had the taste of the ratatouille, and was sucked back to his childhood? I had that same feeling, only i was sucked back to the conversation i had with Melissa in the car, Few words made sense in my head. Early morning, Slimy,…………………POO! My eyes Shot open instantly. About the same instant my head shot off my pillow. The boy was covered in slime. Without my contacts i went in for a closer look, hoping it was something else. Of course not why would it be. I didn't even need to get in that close, however, do to habit of morning blindness i could not help myself. The smell was horrid. In a panic i tapped Melissa to wake her from the dead. She had about the same reaction as well.

It was everywhere!!! The more i started to look the more panicked i became. there was no containing this mess. How long ago did he do this, and how many times? There was no end. The worst of it, i was laying in. Instantly we grabbed the wipes. That was useless though. It was like cleaning a car with a napkin.

The more we cleaned the more we found, and it didn’t even clean it. It was more of a smear. Poo was being smeared all over. There was no end. Eventually, from shear exhaustion we called it quits.

So we went our separate ways. Melissa took the somewhat cleaned sleeping bag and the child who i must call my own. Unfortunately, i was not so lucky. The mattress was Shot, the sleeping bag cover in this new found slime, (POO) and my blanket soaked with poo. I feel like i have not said Poo enough yet. By This point i didn't care. It was still dark, and i just laid there with the only thing to cushion me from the hard rocky floor was the tent bottom. with the night air as my only blanket. I kept thinking, i can not believe this just happened.

It was just at this moment as i was staring up that i began to hear the pitter patter of rain drops descending down. Frantically, i got up and went out of the tent searching for our canopy. Finding this useless without contacts i gave up. With luck it shortly stopped raining. I went to go lay down. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry. It was at this time i was again laying down staring up at the heavens. I thought to my self, fine do your worst, and that is when it started to rain again.

Busy, Busy

On Saturday we got up, went to Macey’s and had free french toast for breakfast then went and saw

it was cute, I love the Toy Story movies, it definitely was scarier than the previous ones, and yes, I cried at the end.

Then that night we drove down to

the Manti temple and saw the Mormon Miracle Pageant. It was such a beautiful night. I don’t think that we will go to it again until the kids are a little older though because it didn’t start until 9:30 pm and ended at 11:30, we didn’t get home until 1:30 am because it is an hour away and the I-15 was closed. We had a very low key fathers day ( I even let Steven sleep in, even though Calvin got up 5 times during the night!). Hope you all had a great weekend also.

Camping

Summer has officially begun! We were able to take our first camping trip and hike.

That is our new tent behind us, it is HUGE with two rooms and a patio!

We hiked up the first to the first waterfall toward Timpanogas. It wasn’t too difficult, but Audrey said she was tired when we could still see our tent at the campsite, *sigh*. She did really well though.

This big guy walked right in front of us on the trail. Kind of intimidating, Peanut wanted to take it on though.

Part Deux

Audrey got to pick out some mouse ears for her souvenir, I think she chose appropriately.

We got to meet more characters and spend more time in toon town then I ever thought we would.

Poor little Calvin was just exhausted. My parents and grandparents took the kids at around 3 the second day to go relax at the pool while Steven and I stayed and got to do some of the fun rides and go to California Adventure. We had a blast and Audrey already wants to go back!

Disneyland Part One

We had so much fun at Disneyland. We were lucky enough that my parents and grandparents were able to meet us there. We went for two days. The longest line we waited in was 15 minutes and the weather was beautiful both days. Here are some pics from the first day.

Not sure what happened to the little dudes hair here, he had a grand time though. I was amazed that he could go on all of the rides except the big coaters.

Small World

Eating lunch at the Blue Bayou at Pirates of the Caribbean, it was much better the last time we went, I wouldn’t do it again.

Audrey was in complete awe of Mickey and MInnie Mouse.

Buds. Calvin and my Grandpa got to spend lots of time together, I know that Calvin enjoyed every moment of it.

There’s the first day. We were there from 9 to 5, went back to the hotel and collapsed to get ready for the next day! Hope you’re ready, those pics are soon to come.

The Beach

We were able to go to CA and Disneyland last week and had a blast! We left Weds. afternoon after Steven got off work and drove to Primm, NV. We decided that the drive was too far for the kids to do in one day so we stayed at Whiskey Pete’s for $20, that’s right only $20. But, it was also what you would expect a $20 room to be like, I don’t believe we will be staying there again. Anyway, the next day it was nice because we got up and only had to drive 3.5 hours to our hotel and then spent the day at the beach.

We didn’t do anything to Calvins’ hair below, it’s just that color, not sure where it comes from.

They both liked being buried, Calvin had a little seat just like his bumbo at home and got to eat sand, what could be better?

Sorry about so many pics, I just couldn’t pick between them. We had a blast. Audrey found so many shells and Calvin loved crawling in the sand and then burying his face in it, it was really strange. Stay tuned for pics from Disneyland, and if I couldn’t choose from pictures at the beach imagine how many there will be from there! Oy!

Ducks

So we have finally started having some nice days, so the kids and I went to the duck pond at BYU. There were so many people there, those have to be the best fed ducks ever!

Eating the bread I deemed old enough to feed the ducks, lovely.

Chilling while sister feeds the ducks and some turtles. Do turtles eat bread?

Fun times. Later that day we took ride to Kenny’s to wash off the bikes. I love Calvins smile, you can just tell he’s thinking “we’re going for a ride!” And yes, Peanut got to go too!

Our wonderful friend Kayla was in town from Indiana and offered to take some pictures of our family. It was cold and snowy the day that we could get together, so we ended up at the Provo Library. I think we definitely got some cute shots.

This is the same photographer that took our last pictures where Audrey was scowling the whole time, I would say we have made some serious progress.

Visit to AZ

I got the chance to go and visit my parents in AZ a week ago. We were able to do a lot of fun things and had a great time.

These were taken at the Children’s Science Museum in Phoenix. It was SOOO much fun. Everything was hands on and we all had a blast.

These are pool noodles that were hung from the ceiling and you got to run through them.

Grocery shopping, and getting to check everything out herself.

Biker girls. Calving watched me put the ball on the top once, then did it himself , I was quite impressed!

We went to the Wild Animal Park. We had a blast.

You could pet the sting rays, Audrey thought it was scary though. She did like the goats and deer though, and they sure liked her.

Five Years and counting...

Well i sure hope all of you have had the chance to celebrate with us a nickels worth of years. Many have asked if the time has flown by, or if it has seemed to be an eternity to get to this point? Yes. . . However, There have been more ups than downs, more laughter than tears, and time keeps pressing us forward in this quest we call life. So this is a dedication to look back, and turn back the seasons of time to look at where we were and maybe see where we are headed...already i see a person who was 40lbs lighter with a little bit more sod on top of his head *sigh*. Here we go...
In the beginning God created man and it was good.
After the rough draft, God set to work on the final and created Woman.
And together they are one.And so starts the honeymoon years of our journey.
There was the unknown to explore...
Places to go...
However, it is Utah that we have found to be our place of habitat.
Oh, the beauty...

That was not to stop us however on seeing the world. I say if it is snowing where you are, go to France. (Even though that makes no sense seeing that France is close to the same latitude as we are and if we have snow then they probably do as well. Still, lets just stick with the romance of the idea.)
Oh Venice, the ambiance, the serenity, the pigeons, the rats. Did you know that Venice has a ratio of 10 rats to every person who lives there. And if you thought that was crowded, 150 million tourists visit the quaint little city every year. However the most unusual, fact is that every Italian has 1.27 kids per year. I don't even want to know what the .27 kid looks like. I have to admit I have not seen any person equaled to .27 while I was there

Meet Audrey.
She came a little soon for my liking, but we'll keep her.

Number Two came along. (we wanted to name him "number two", but that had some negative connotations) So introduce Calvin.
So here we are, at the cross roads of life. No longer a family of two, but a family for four, and still growing. Sure looking back has been eventful, and i would have to say that we have accomplished quite a lot in the last five years, yet we always try to live life to the fullest. Everyday is an adventure. Still, i see endless poopy diapers in the future, less hair, more weight, and maybe a mustache. when all is said and done, however, and the sun sets on the day, there is no other place i would rather be than home, with a wife whom i truly love and understands (tolerates) me for who i am. The last five years have been the best five years of my life, and i only see it going up from here, unless the mustache enters the picture, but that's all more the fun.

So, Calvin had his 6 month check up yesterday, I knew that he was a big boy, I had no idea how big though! He weighs 17.7 lbs, putting him at 50% in weight, he is 28.5 inches long, 96% and his head is 17 in around, 70%. Big boy. He is happy healthy, can roll over and sit up on his own. He eats all the time. I've started making my own baby food and he eats 7 ice cubes of food a day(that's about 3 containers) and an 8 ounce bottle in between each feeding of food. To put some perspective on how big he is, Audrey weighed 18 lbs at 1 year. Little different this time. What a cutie!

Winter Wonderland

Last weekend we got just a little snow one night. We went out to play in it the next morning, we were the first to play in it. We had a lot of snow. Don't worry that Calvin isn't in any of the pictures, he was napping.She had sooooo much fun running around and playing in the snow.

The loot, Steven asked if he could have a piece and she told him no, get your own.
We went trunk or treating with Gabby.

She figuired out how it all worked very quickly, ditched Gabby and got as much candy as she could, meeting up with Gabby at the end.

He was Calvin and Hobbes this day. I got the costume a couple of weeks after he was born thinking it would be big on him. His toes were curled in the feet he is so big.

A couple of weeks before Halloween I started asking her what she wanted to be this year. She immediatley said "a bat" and never wavered from that. It was pretty funny, all of her little friends were princesses and pink and she was in all black. I'm guessing that she was also the only one that really had an opinion about what she wanted to be!

This was about as much as she had to do with the pumpkin, she thought that it was dirty.

Here are some recent pics of the handsome boy. He just had his two month checkup on Monday weighing 13 lbs 1 ounce putting him in the 73rd percentile and is 24 inches long 77 percentile and his head is 16.3 inches around also in the 77 percentile. When the doctor came in he said that he looks like he is about 4 months old.

Audrey turns 3!

For Audrey's birthday she wanted a pink party. I took it a step farther and did princesses. We had Pink Lemonade, strawberries, apples and chocolate cake. Along with 8 2 and 3 year olds, quite the fun time for her.

One of our activities was making candy necklaces. This is one of our neighbor girls, she definately got the most on hers!

The princess cake, we went the easy way and just bought one this year.

I love all the help that she had opening the gifts. She certainly made out like a bandit.

She had a great day and we went and saw the Cougars win afterwards. I can't believe she is 3 year old!

Calvin Updates

So, I know I have been completely remiss in my posts, but here are a couple of pics of the Little Man from the last month.

Steven gave Calvin a blessing early in the month. After this picture, Calvin promptly pooped all down the inside of his pants. Luckily I didn't decide to put him in white, Steven washed the pants out really quickly and blew them dry with my hair drier, put them back on and we were off to church.

He loves "sitting" and can be found in this position every day.

He is a happy little boy who brings such joy to us all. He is also a very big boy. He was weighed at my 6 week check up last week and came in at a whopping 12 lbs 14 ounces!

So how has Audrey taken it.

So a lot of People have asked, "How has Audrey been taking to the new sibling?"
Well........It has been difficult at times.
Everything seems so different, now that there is a new center of attention. And although there is a new person on this crowded planet, the world seems so lonely.
*SIGH*
And anger seems to slip out at times.
But for the most part, the overwhelming urge of self pity sets in.
and some tears are shed.
However when one looks to the future, only to look back, how do they want to see there life portrayed? This would be the pivotal moment.
In the end, compromises were made, Kisses were smooched, and a peace treaty has been made (only to end when Calvin is 4). All in all, Audrey loves her little brother "Baby Calvin," and enjoys being a big sister. Life is good. (Now if only Calvin knew what he was getting into!

Battle Creek hike

It was so hot a couple of weeks ago we went and got snow cones, we both thoroughly enjoyed them!

Yesterday, our ward had a hike and we decided to go. If a hike didn't get the baby out I don't know what will.

Guitar recital

So, after having played the guitar for all of two months, Steven had his first recital. He started out learning Twinkle Little Star, Amazing Grace and To Grandmothers House We Go and then learned Hey Jude. Quite the jump in my opinion. He did very well, considering that the other participants were under the age of 13 and played like they had been playing for years. They were seriously amazing. The girl that played before him got up and rocked on her electric guitar, I was intimidated and I wasn't even playing!

The guy standing next to him is his teacher, he goes on his mission in a couple of weeks.
There was an entire band there to back them up, and the girl in yellow sang each song. It was the coolest recital I've ever been to.

Here he is playing Hey Jude. I was quite proud of him.

Dinosaurs

On another day of Stevens vacation we went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving point. We had SO much fun and can't wait to go back again.

Off to the Zoo

So Steven had a mandatory week off the second week of July, everyone at his work had to, he wasn't in trouble or anything! So we stayed with Aunt Kim Sunday night and got up and went to the Hogle Zoo on Monday. It is such a perfect size for a zoo, especially when you are going with a 2 year old and an incredibly pregnant woman.

This is Audrey in her halloween costume from last year, she insisted on wearing it when we got home, because she saw the elephants.

Previously she has been too scared to ride the carousel, but insisted on riding it this time, even knowing that she wanted to ride 'raffe and didn't want one that went up and down. She loved it so much that I had to pry her off of it at the end of the ride, much to the amusement of the other parents there!

Fourth of July Weekend

We had a busy and fun Fourth of July. There were balloons, camping and fireworks galore and not to mention all of my patriotic music that I play in the car and in the house, to the enjoyment of everyone else as well, i'm sure.

Thursday morning we got up at 6 am and went and saw the hot air balloons. Audrey wasn't too keen on being up that early, but I think by the end with the promise of breakfast in her mind, she was having a better time.

Steven wasn't able to go with us last year, because he was still working super early. We were glad he was able to go this year though, especially since Audrey only wanted to be carried.

Honest Abe was even able to make it this year.

Watching them fill up the balloons, I don't think this is the job that I would want.

We went camping with Kenny and Britani and her sister and brother in law. When I say we, I mean Steven and Audrey. I went up for the day, had dinner and drove back home to sleep in a bed, then drove back up in the morning. Luckily this is only 15 minutes from our house!

There were caterpillars EVERYWHERE, Audrey is really into bugs right now and loved it.

Audrey getting ready to go to sleep in the tent. She had a blast and only had minor injuries from being knocked over by a dog when I got back in the morning. Did you know that you can bruise the back of your ear? I sure didn't.

We went and staked out our spot for the fireworks and got a great spot. Audrey wasn't afraid of the sparklers this year, but she still didn't like the fireworks. They were too loud and burned her eyes she said, whatever that means. She hid under the blanket while they were going off.

Brighton

So, we are incredibly lucky to live so close to Brighton, and that Steven's wonderful Aunt Kim has a cabin there that she lets us use. We went up a couple of weeks ago and had a blast.

So, I know that I have been remiss in my blog posting, I apologize and will try and do better. Here are some pics from June. Audrey and I went to my parents in AZ for a week and then met up with Steven in St. George, UT for a family reunion.

Audrey has been telling us that she wants to play the violin. When we were in AZ my dad was kind enough to let her use his. Hopefully, when she gets her own she won't have to hold it with her feet!

For the reunion we went to Zion National Park one day, here we are at the entrance.

Updates

So, we finally started remodeling our condo. The first order of business is making our front room into a third bedroom. Here is the first day, our contractor removed the french doors and built a temporary wall.

The second day he realized that we needed a a second temporary wall as this was a supporting wall.

In between the two temporary walls. The contractor was kind enough to make sure that I could still fit down the hall way.

The third day the french doors went back in and the framing for the new entry way and closet was put in.

The fourth day he did electrical work, so nothing new to see, except for holes in the ceiling. Tomorrow the guy comes to do dry wall, woohoo.

This is what the kitchen looks like right now, no appliances of any kind, or flooring. Steven is tiling as I type.

Steven finally graduated from BYU! He has been done since August, but decided to wait to graduate so that he could get the student bus pass. It was a really neat ceremony, since he graduated from the college of Fine Arts, he was with the music people and the theatre arts. There was a song duet and a violin/piano duet.

Surprise! To those of you that didn't know, yes Melissa is pregnant. She is 18 weeks along and we just found out that it is a boy, no doubt about it, he was very proud to show off for the ultrasound. We had a suspicion that it was a boy, just because this pregnancy has been more difficult than the last one, being sick and all. Everyone is doing well though and Audrey is excited to be a big sister. We weren't sure that we were going to be able to go this long without letting people know, but we made it and who knows, maybe we'll go longer next time!

So i am not one who really blogs all that much, however, i have notice that nothing has really been done on ours. Only a 1/4 of our trip to Hawaii was put up there and it has been a good solid two months. So i guess i am taking the liberty of updating and hopefully contributing a little more as well. We can also dedicate a whole section to ME and i can use it as MY soapbox as I tell the world my pet peives (which i have a lot of). So hopefully you will see more of this which would be fantastic. This is Steven by the way. Anyways, the picture above is a painting i worked on. It is a shameless plug to have people revisit my art blog ""theartofglauser.blogspot.com"". Since i haven't updated anything for a year. I noticed that when people visit it helps me to do more, which is what I really need to be doing. Well, enough said, we'll try to keep things updated. Welcome to Paradise!
This enormous tree was in the middle of Lahaina, no pics come even close to doing its size justice.

We went to an amazing aquarium that Audrey loved running from tank to tank seeing all the different fish.

Jellyfish are so incredible looking, its too bad they are so harmful I would love to see what they feel like.

Here we are arriving at the airport, bright and early at 6:30, we were lucky that we were there early though, all of the computers were down for Hawaiin Airlines and they had to write everything out by hand.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the fantastic vacation! This was at the airport in Honolulu during our lay over.

Audrey pulling her bag, doesn't she look happy! She did amazingly well on the plane and people complimented us as we got off.

One of the pools at the hotel, I particularly enjoyed lying there doing nothing and reading a book while there were others to watch Audrey.

This is the check in at the hotel, it was certainly different to have it completely outdoors.

Miracle Cleaner

So, on the way to see the lights at Temple Square, Audrey threw up all over herself, her car seat and the car. We all know how well that smell comes out of the car! Well, I found this cleaner at Walmart called Kids n Pets and it got the smell out! Amazing I know, I just thought that I would pass the info on.

I got the chance to go and see Australia this weekend all by myself, and I LOVED it. It is a real romance so don't expect your guys to like it, but it was great. Nicole Kidman was great and I got to drool over my man Hugh Jackman, YUM. You should go see it if you get the chance!

New Bathroom

Thanks to Nathan Wilbur for the help in getting pictures to appear again. Here are the pics of our new bathroom. For those of you that didn't see the old one imagine that nasty fake marble on the shower walls, linoleum on the floor and the vanity was white with a blue top, nice I know. The smaller bathroom has the same tile on the floor and same dark cabinet, it isn't decorated yet though so no pics of that.

So we finally got the computers working again, yes, stevens' computer started acting up as soon as the laptop went down. Now for some reason I can't post pics on blogger, when they come up, they appear as text and code instead of pictures. Does anyone out there know how I can fix this?
